Significance
In 1967, Aston Martin debuted its newest grand touring coupe, the DBS. Two years later, the DBS played a starring role alongside George Lazenby in the 6th installment of the James Bond franchise On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Finished in a unique shade of metallic Olive Green, this 1969 DBS was the perfect combination of luxury and performance to accompany the gentleman spy on his assorted missions. In 2019, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the film, Aston Martin’s “Q” division developed a special edition of the new DBS Superleggera to pay homage to the classic DBS from the movie.

This 2020 Aston Martin DBS OHMSS Edition is one of 50 produced worldwide and an estimated 7 to make its way to the United States. Finished in the same shade of Olive Green as the DBS in the movie, this DBS Superleggera has been fitted with numerous unique touches only found on these limited editions, which draw a line back to the famous car from the movie. One of the most impressive pieces on the DBS Superleggera is the diamond-turned forged alloy wheels, designed to evoke the wire wheels seen on the original DBS. These are exceptionally intricate and do an impressive job of replicating the busy look of wire wheels while being significantly stronger and lighter. A custom grille has been installed that is reminiscent of the vertical chrome slat grille of the original DBS, and special side strakes feature a subtle OHMSS Edition engraving along the top edge.
The interior is finished in pure black leather paired with gray Alcantara and red accents throughout. The red accents honor the secret red felt-lined compartment in the original DBS from the movie, which housed James Bond’s sniper rifle- but no such compartment is included in this car. Between the two rear seats is a red stitched 007 OHMSS Edition logo, with the James Bond rifled barrel logo featured in the title sequences of all the movies, sitting above it. Beautiful satin gray wood grain adorns the door cards and center console, and the upgraded Bang and Olufsen stereo was optioned for exceptional sound quality.
Whereas a 4.0 liter DOHC Inline-6 powered the DBS in OHMSS, the modern DBS Superleggera is now propelled by a 5.2 liter twin-turbocharged V12 that produces 715 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. With peak torque between 1,500-5,000 rpm, the DBS is exceptionally fast and offers seamless, smooth performance anywhere on the tachometer. With the ability to run from 0-62 mph in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 211 mph, this car will not only show its taillights to the 1969 DBS that inspired it but is also faster than most supercars on the road today. In typical Aston Martin fashion, this car’s noise is second to none, and the ride is an excellent compromise between sport and comfort.
